Who's that DJ?
Brian McDaniel, also known as "Crow"
, has been spinning tunes and entertaining for over 10 years. He got his start at a local skating rink in the Metro area by accident. On his way in to the rink he was approached by the manager who needed someone to fill in for the DJ who had just quit. Without hesitation or experience, he got right to work. The only thing that he had going for him was the fact that he knew what to play, and when to play it. Because of his musical and acting background, the job didn’t really seem like a challenge. Brian graduated from a Visual and Performing Arts School and was studying entertainment. With several years of theater, television, music producing and DJ’n ahead of him, it wasn’t hard to figure out what he wanted to do. "No matter, what, everyone loves a good performance. I love to entertain people. It’s really the only thing I ever concentrated on. I always lived by the golden rule that it’s very important to just be kind to your audience. Then, you win them over within the first minute of the performance. People can tell when you are not authentic." After working at the rink for about a year, he went to work on his own. Working with a few people, he managed to DJ several parties, weddings, and various other occasions. Now solo, Brian started a company called, "Crow Entertainment" and has worked for friends, family and clients like WARW 94.7fm, Bell Atlantic Mobile/Verizon and Children's Hospital to name a few. Working with Classic Rock 94.7 fm is just one of the places where his talent was hired. Although he ended up on the cutting room floor for the movie " Liberty Heights," directed by Barry Levinson, he did manage to play a wounded soldier with radio personality, Doug "The Greaseman" Tracht in a documentary on Grenada directed by Todd Crespi. You might even see Brian on stage hosting the next concert you attend. That’s what he’s done for major groups like Journey, Blue Oyster Cult and some of the finest local talent around. "I concentrate on being a wedding professional. It's absolutely what I'm doing well these days. Every wedding is so different. It's a pleasure to look out on an event that I helped put together. It's nice when people compliment you or when a bride hugs you at the end of the event. That's when you know you've done well. The way I see it? In this business you get exactly what you pay for. People pay for "Crow" and they get the "Crow" experience."
