MANY ANSWERS TO WEDDING PLANNING QUESTIONS THAT START WITH THE WORD “WHY.” THE FORMAT IS STRAIGHT UP. NOTHING BUT THE COLD HARD FACTS!

WHY…

…is it important to provide a meal for the DJ and other vendors that are working on the day of your wedding after the head table is served?

ANSWER: If the DJ, photographer, etc. are eating at the same time the head table is, we will be finished at the same time the bride and groom are. We won’t miss a beat and you won’t waste a meal. Serving us after the entire room has been served is the same thing as dumping a bucket of money down the toilet! Hotels are famous for doing this. You have to actually tell the caterer to provide sustenance for us after the head table. They won’t do it otherwise. (It’s the hard truth)

WHY should I check the restrooms at a facility prior to booking?

ANSWER: If the bathrooms are unappealing in any way when you’re checking the place out, count on them being that way on the day of your wedding. They will be. Also, are the stalls large enough for a person to change clothes? Many DJ’s come prepared to change into their wedding attire after set up. Are the facilities accommodating? Just take a hard look. You be the judge.

WHY Should I ask to see the kitchen?

ANSWER: WHY NOT? The same principal applies to the kitchen in terms of appeal. Don’t be shy. You’re going to spend anywhere between $10,000.00-$100,000.00 on a top-notch wedding. Anything else is just crazy. Check every detail.

WHY should I concern myself with parking?

ANSWER: First of all, if parking is a problem, don’t do it. Don’t waste your time. If the facility doesn’t have it’s own parking, steer clear of it. You’re only asking for trouble. Location is essential. You will have 100-500 people coming to a typical wedding. Unless you are a superstar, these numbers are accurate. If parking is going to be a problem for your guests, eliminate it by choosing another facility. There’s nothing classy about showing up late to someone’s reception. I’ve seen it all too many times.

WHY should I ask a DJ if they’ve been to the place where the wedding reception will be?

ANSWER: We might have some additional info that you’ll find helpful. Also, if we’ve been there before, we won’t get lost going there again. In other words, our familiarity with a place is sometimes essential in terms of production. Have you ever flown on an airplane with a pilot who has never flown? Would you?
